I recently began talking to myself when I need a kick in the pants, and it helps a lot. Once in a while I make observations aloud and startle myself, but not with the result of stopping. I urge myself on, and I get down on myself for avoiding tasks and the result is that I am a lot less of a procrastinator.

Oh wow, I talk to myself all the time. In workplace settings it can be a real problem, so remote work land has been a book to my self talk as you say.
