My spouse does this and proudly refers to it as disaster managing. If one of those unlikely events occurs, she’s already been there, lived there, made plans. While the rest of us are still standing around bemused, she’ll be the one to put on sunglasses on and say “deploy countermeasures” ;)

I understand why you feel obligated to give these new theories a positive spin. (After all they COULD POSSIBLY help some people who have never heard of them before. And any port on a storm!) But for myself, I'd have to rate their possible effectiveness as "extremely unlikely".

Some of my (many) anxieties are based on observable, objective reality - eg. climate change. No amount of purposeful playacting such as "reverse worrying" could realistically banish them.

Lol... As I was reading this, I found myself muttering "Now tell me what you really think!". That's not to say it wasn't an interesting read! I've enjoyed reading all of your articles... Keep up the good work!
